Erik Stokkebye’s 4th Generation celebrates four generations of the Stokkebye family’s life in tobacco, a name long associated with fine pipe blends and now with a line of pipes to match. Rather than carving in-house, Stokkebye commissions respected European workshops to produce each design, pairing the family’s heritage with genuine craft. The Spring Collection is one chapter of a four-part seasonal series, each season dressing the same classic shapes in its own finish and metal accent. This is the Oval Bent Dublin — a timeless, forward-tilted conical bowl that flares toward the rim and tapers to a trim base, distinguished by an oval, gently flattened shank that gives the pipe a softer, more sculptural profile and settles comfortably against the hand. Here it wears a rusticated finish in a warm brown tone, the texture lifting the briar’s surface into a rugged, tactile grip, set off by a hand-designed bronze band at the shank.
Cut from briar and made in Italy, it marries clean, classic lines with everyday usability. The Dublin’s open, flaring chamber lights easily and smokes cool and even, suiting a wide range of blends from bright Virginias to fuller mixtures, while the acrylic stem resists oxidation and keeps its shine far longer than vulcanite. Left unfiltered, the draw stays wide open, letting the tobacco speak plainly from light to heel. A handsome, seasonally distinctive pipe from a house built on tobacco tradition — equally at home as a daily smoker or as a collectible completing the four-season set.
