The Opus X 25th Aniversario Tributo is Arturo Fuente's commemorative salute to thirty years of a cigar that changed the industry — a 7×50 Churchill rolled entirely from aged Dominican tobacco grown at Chateau de la Fuente and handcrafted by the most senior artisans at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. When the original Opus X launched in 1995, the idea of growing wrapper-grade tobacco in the Dominican Republic was considered impossible by most of the cigar world. The Fuente family proved otherwise, and the Tributo exists as a celebration of everything that followed from that moment. Produced in extremely limited quantities and presented in individual commemorative coffin-style packaging, this is a cigar built as much for the humidor as the ashtray.
The Sun Grown Rosado wrapper from Chateau de la Fuente is the centerpiece — oily, silky, and a deep reddish-brown, grown on the same estate land that's been producing Opus X leaf for three decades. The proprietary aged Dominican binder and filler underneath are as tightly kept as the rest of the Fuente blend portfolio, but the result speaks clearly: a full-bodied construction with flawless draw, razor-straight burn, and thick, creamy smoke from the first inch to the last. The Churchill format gives the blend nearly two hours to develop, and it uses every minute.
Flavor-wise the first third opens with cedar, OpusX spice, and a citrus-kissed creaminess that sets the tone immediately. The middle transitions into espresso, leather, dark chocolate, and warm pepper that build gradually without spiking, and the final third settles into rich oak and roasted depth with a lingering, complex finish that stays with you well after the smoke is done. If you have one, rest it. If you're smoking it now, slow down — this one earns the time you give it.
