Product details

The Don Carlos Edicion de Aniversario Double Robusto Tubo delivers one of the rarest Fuente expressions in the most travel-ready format the line offers — the same all-Dominican puro that defines the Edicion de Aniversario tier, presented in an individual aluminum tube that protects it and keeps it fresh without sacrificing a single detail of what makes the blend exceptional. Introduced as a tribute to Carlos Fuente Sr. on the 30th anniversary of the Don Carlos line, the Edicion de Aniversario uses the same Dominican Sun Grown Habano wrapper leaf found on the Fuente Fuente Opus X rather than the African Cameroon wrapper the Don Carlos line is famous for — a deliberate departure that gives the anniversary blend a distinctly different and more intensely complex character. Every cigar is aged for two full years post-rolling before release, a process that separates this from virtually every other premium cigar on the market.

The Opus X wrapper leaf is the defining detail. Grown at Chateau de la Fuente on the same mineral-rich estate soil that produces the family's most prized tobacco, the Sun Grown Habano wrapper brings an earthy spice and natural depth that's unmistakably Fuente while delivering a profile the standard Don Carlos never reaches. The aged Dominican binder and filler underneath have had two years to fully integrate with the wrapper, and that integration shows — the blend is smooth, cohesive, and layered in a way that only comes from tobacco that's been given the time it demands. The 5.75×52 Double Robusto format burns evenly and draws cleanly, with a firm ash and consistent construction from the first cut to the last inch.

Flavor-wise you're getting sweet cream and almonds up front, cocoa and caramel developing through the middle, with cedar and dried figs carrying through to a long, naturally sweet finish. Medium-full in body, refined and balanced throughout, and released once a year in quantities that move faster than most retailers can reorder. The tubo makes it the most practical way to carry or gift a single Don Carlos Edicion de Aniversario — and one of the most impressive single-cigar presentations in the Fuente portfolio.
