The Gurkha Cellar Reserve 6-Cigar Sampler is the most comprehensive way to experience the full depth of what blender Kaizad Hansotia built when he launched the Cellar Reserve line in 2007 — a series dedicated to the premise that the finest cigars can only be made from tobacco that's been given extraordinary amounts of time to develop. Six Perfectos, each from a different tier of the Cellar Reserve portfolio: the 15 Year, Limitada 15 Year, 15 Year 10th Anniversary, 18 Year, and two of the 21 Year. Every cigar in the box shares a Dominican Olor binder and aged Dominican long-filler, with the wrapper leaf changing across each blend — Criollo '98 and Corojo for the 15 and 18 Year expressions, Brazilian Arapiraca Maduro for the Limitada, and Connecticut Shade for the 21 Year.
The aging is what defines every cigar in this sampler. Gurkha doesn't release Cellar Reserve tobacco until it has spent a minimum of 15 years in the aging process — and the 21 Year blends push that further still, producing a smoothness and complexity that younger tobacco simply cannot replicate. The Perfecto format is consistent across all six cigars, each featuring a pigtail cap and a tapered foot that focuses the draw from the first light and channels each blend's character with precision. Construction throughout is tight and deliberate, with an even burn and a draw that holds open from the tapered tip through the widest section of each vitola.
Flavor-wise the sampler covers a wide range — the 15 Year delivers cedar, nuts, and a touch of sweetness; the Limitada goes darker with espresso, leather, and black pepper; the 18 Year runs toward leather, nuts, and subtle sweetness; and the 21 Year smooths everything out into vanilla, cocoa, and light spice with a long, velvety finish. Six expressions, one philosophy: age the tobacco long enough and the cigar takes care of itself.
