Fuego is a collaboration between Privada Cigar Club, LCA, and AJ Fernandez — a 6×54 box-pressed toro rolled at AJ's Tabacalera Annex in Estelí, Nicaragua, using 100% Nicaraguan-grown tobacco cultivated on Fernandez's own farms. The artwork on the band and box was created by Australian pop mash artist Aaron Craig, giving the whole package a vivid, creative energy that sets it apart visually before you even light it. The blend itself is a full Nicaraguan puro built around something you don't often see at this strength level: a Nicaraguan-grown Connecticut Shade wrapper.
That wrapper is the most interesting construction choice here. Connecticut Shade is typically associated with milder, creamier Dominican or Ecuadorian expressions, but grown in Nicaraguan soil it takes on a richer, more complex character while retaining the leaf's natural smoothness and light oiliness. Paired with AJ Fernandez's perfectly fermented Nicaraguan binder and filler, the result is a puro that delivers medium-full body without any harshness — cohesive, well-built, and constructed with the same precision that's made Fernandez one of the most trusted names in Nicaraguan production. The box-press keeps the burn clean and even throughout.
Flavor-wise you're getting vanilla and cream up front from the Connecticut Shade, red pepper and toasted almond building through the middle, with dried citrus peel and warm cedar arriving toward a long, satisfying finish. Approachable enough to bring in Connecticut Shade fans while offering the complexity and body that Nicaraguan puro lovers expect — a blend that rewards attention and invites you back for another.
