The W.A. Fireworks is the first release in a ten-cigar series conceived by Brian Desind, founder of Privada Cigar Club, and blended with AJ Fernandez — each cigar in the collection inspired by one of director Wes Anderson's films. Fireworks takes its cues from Bottle Rocket, Anderson's 1996 debut: a sudden, vivid burst of creativity that doesn't announce itself until it's already happening. Rolled at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez in Estelí as a 7×50 Churchill and released exclusively through LCA Plus in April 2022, it's a full Nicaraguan puro built entirely from tobacco grown and processed by Fernandez on his own farms.
The all-Nicaraguan construction gives the blend a single-origin cohesion that comes through immediately — wrapper, binder, and filler all from the same country, all crafted with the precision that's made Tabacalera AJ Fernandez one of the most trusted production facilities in Estelí. The Churchill format gives the blend room to develop and transition across three distinct thirds without rushing, and the construction holds up cleanly from the first cut to the final inch. This is a cigar built to be smoked slowly, which is entirely appropriate given the cinematic inspiration behind it.
The first third opens with cedar, roasted nuts, and black pepper with a cocoa richness underneath. The second third expands into cream, toasted bread, and cinnamon spice with white pepper sharpening on the retrohale. By the final third, dark cocoa and charred oak deepen, finishing with a long, creamy spice that lingers well past the last draw. An LCA Plus exclusive worth tracking down — and a compelling reason to follow the rest of the series.
